Christine A. Gilsinan
Attorney at Law
Christine A. Gilsinan has been an attorney for over 30 years. For 25 of those years, she has concentrated her practice in estate planning, tax, and real estate. The expansion of her practice to include elder law (long term care planning, asset preservation, public benefits for the elderly) came gradually, as her clients began to bring their parents' concerns to her attention. Christine is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and is a Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA).
A CELA is an attorney who has successfully passed a full-day examination and completed an ABA-approved course of study of the areas of law relevant to disabled and elder persons. The certification program is administered through the National Elder Law Foundation (NELF). The attorney must have handled at least 60 elder law cases during the preceding three years before certification (and the recertification required every five years thereafter. The cases must have involved issues such as housing, retirement asset planning, taxation, nursing home placement, and disability planning. The lawyer must have successfully secured government services for clients. Currently there are 425 CELAs in the U.S., with only five in the St. Louis area.
Christine is also a member of the Advisors Program of TIAA-CREF.
In addition to her law practice, Christine is a Director of the
Missouri Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and
a former co-chair of the
Elder Law Committee of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St.
Louis. She speaks about elder law and estate planning issues to the
public and writes and presents programs to other attorneys.
